Surface Preparation
Coating performance starts here. Every durable finish depends on a clean, properly profiled substrate — and we operate the equipment, media library, and chemical processes needed to prep nearly any metal surface for the coating system that follows.
Core Service
- Aluminum oxide, steel grit, glass bead, soda, dry ice
- In-shop & on-site capable
High-pressure cleaning for surface preparation, degreasing, and contaminant removal — used as a standalone service or as the first step ahead of blasting and coating.
- Up to high-pressure rated equipment
- Pre-coating prep or maintenance cleaning
Spec Required
Iron phosphate and zinc phosphate conversion coatings that improve coating adhesion and corrosion resistance. Required for AAMA 2604 and AAMA 2605 architectural coating specifications.
- Iron & zinc phosphate processes
- AAMA 2604 / 2605 supported
Coating Systems
The full stack — primer + intermediate + top coat — selected and applied to match your operating environment. Whether the part faces saltwater, chemicals, abrasion, or extreme service, we build the coating system around what it has to survive.
Overview
Epoxy primers, zinc-rich primers, polyurethane and polysiloxane finishes — system selection matched to your exposure conditions and durability requirements. Application available on-site, in-shop, or in production workflows.
- Epoxy / zinc-rich / polyurethane / polysiloxane
- SSPC-SP10 prep available
Color-matched, uniformly applied primer and topcoat work for long-term protection and consistent finish quality across batches and projects.
- Custom color matching
- Batch consistency for production
- Graco two-component equipment
- Fast cure / short pot life
For fixed structures and oversized work — certified crews work in confined spaces, at heights, and with boom lift equipment to complete blasting and coating at your location.
- Bridges, tanks, structural steel, infrastructure
- Confined space & aerial work
A durable dry-applied finish that produces a hard coat tougher than conventional paint — with near-zero VOC emissions, recyclable overspray, and a wide range of color and texture options.
- Electrostatic spray + oven cure
- Custom colors & textures
Specialty Coatings
Purpose-built coating systems for situations where standard primer and topcoat won’t perform. Each one requires manufacturer-certified application and specialized equipment — and we’re trained and equipped for all of them.
Sole Northeast Applicator
Full Heresite product line — phenolic, epoxy, urethane, air-dry, and water-based systems — applied to HVAC-R coils, heat exchangers, fume handling equipment, and harsh chemical/marine environments. Sandmans is one of six approved applicators in the U.S. and the only one in the Northeast.
- P-413, P-403L, VR-514, WB-506, UC-5500
- Coastal, wastewater, chemical, HVAC-R
Non-stick, low-friction coatings with toughness and abrasion resistance — baked and applied to smooth, clean metal for a durable finish. Most commonly paired with our pin line production process.
- PTFE-based fluoropolymer systems
- Cure temps 725–750°F
Ultra-thin (~1 mil) ceramic polymer coating with exceptional hardness, corrosion resistance, and abrasion protection. Available across the H-Series, E-Series (Elite), C-Series, and V-Series product lines in hundreds of colors.
- H, E, C, & V Series available
- Heat options up to 1,800°F
PVDF Extrusion / Coil Coatings
Coming Soon
High-performance fluoropolymer coatings for architectural extrusions and coil applications — capability launching soon.
- Architectural metal finishing
- Capability in development
Production Methods
For high-volume manufactured parts, the application method matters as much as the coating. These two production processes are built for repeat runs — the right one depends on whether your parts can be hung individually or need to be processed in bulk.
Hook, coat, and bake nearly any volume of manufactured parts — with optional zinc-phosphate pretreatment. Ideal for parts that can be hung individually and need consistent finish quality across high-volume repeat runs. Most effective when paired with Teflon coating systems.
- For parts with hang points
- Optional zinc-phosphate prep
- Pairs with Teflon (PTFE)
Submerge, spin, and bake — an effective bulk coating process for fasteners, clips, brackets, and small hardware that’s too small to hang individually. Multiple dip spin machines in-house for concurrent production runs.
- For small parts at scale
- Controlled film build via spin
- Multiple machines in-house

Choose Your Service by Need
Not sure which process fits your project? Start with what your part has to deal with, and we’ll point you to the right service.
If your problem is...
Corrosion in salt air or chemicals
If your problem is...
Tank linings or internal containment
If your problem is...
HVAC coil or heat exchanger protection
Fin-and-tube geometry that needs corrosion protection without restricting airflow or thermal efficiency. Common in coastal, chemical, and harsh-environment installations.
If your problem is...
High-volume manufactured parts
